Snowy Weather Thanked for Achieving 100 % Containment on County Road 8 Fire

The County Road 8 Fire located 8 miles southeast of Meeker, Colorado is now 100 percent contained. The fire started on April 11th when an agriculture burn grew out of control. Crews were able to keep the fire to 890 acres. The snow fall and colder days this week have been credited with the ability to get the fire fully contained. According to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, the fire was called in on April 11th at 1:06 pm located near mile marker 8 on County Road 8. Response came from Rio Blanco Fire, Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Management, Rio Blanco County Road and Bridge, along with resources from the Bureau of Land Management. Crews initially had to work through the night conducting backburns in an effort to fight the fire.
