Smoky Conditions in Uintah Basin Persist

Smoky conditions in the Uintah Basin are affecting residents, especially those with sensitivities. National Weather Service reports that the smoke in northeastern Utah is coming from fires in California, Nevada, and within our region, including Colorado. A westerly air flow is drawing the smoke in and very little improvement is expected through midweek.  By Friday, it is expected that less smoke will be drawn in but already present smoke will be slow to clear out. It’s hoped, however, that by the end of the week there will be improvement in visibility and air quality. During times of low air quality, TriCounty Health encourages those with heart or respiratory ailments to reduce physical exertion and outdoor activities as much as possible. If outdoor activities are required for these individuals, consider using respiratory protective measures to filter particulates.
