Smoke sticking around in the Uintah Basin is coming from a lightning caused fire that started in Emery County on August 16th. UtahFireInfo reports that smoke from the Lighthouse Fire is visible at times in parts of Carbon, Duchesne, Emery, Grand and Uintah Counties. The Bureau of Land Management is using aircraft to monitor the Lighthouse Fire in the Desolation Canyon Wilderness but as of right now have no plans to put firefighters on the ground due to safety concerns. “The fire is burning about 16 miles southeast of East Carbon on the east side of Range Creek in Lighthouse Canyon. Helicopters have been used to drop water on the fire to slow its spread. The objective is to prevent the fire from reaching private land.”
