Slow The Flow: A Yellow Lawn Is Not A Dead Lawn

by | Jun 15, 2022 | News | 0 comments

‘Slow the Flow’ as a public service announcement reminds the Uintah Basin that a yellow lawn is not a dead lawn. Grass is capable of surviving on just one inch of water per month. That means that the watering recommendations from the Utah Division of Water Resources are more than enough for grass to survive. It is asked that expectations for lawns shift from lush green to dormant yellow at this time. Almost 99 percent of Utah is in severe drought and eliminating one watering can save 3,000 gallons for the average quarter-acre Utah yard. Each watering should apply ½ inch of water. The lawn watering guide currently recommends Daggett County to have two irrigations and Duchesne and Uintah Counties three irrigations with instructions to not water in windy and raining conditions.
