On December 12th, 2020 police officers from all around the Uintah Basin participated in the annual ‘Shop with a Cop’ event. Vernal PD shared in a press release that “approximately 50 Officers spent their morning shopping at Walmart with approximately 50 children with a dash of social distancing and mask-wearing of course. After a hard morning of shopping, the kids were able to watch Walmart employees wrap their treasures and enjoyed snacks and drinks. Now don’t you worry, Santa Claus made sure he did not miss out on such an amazing opportunity… he and Mrs. Claus were there and masked up as well. This is a joy-filled time of the year, and this is an event that Law Enforcement Officers look forward to all year,” continued Vernal PD. “Watching the faces of the children as they shop for themselves and loved ones puts a smile on all of our faces.” Vernal PD offered their thanks to those that sponsored the ‘Shop with a Cop’ program this year.
