Streams, creeks and rivers are high and flowing fast with spring runoff. The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office has offered a timely reminder for citizens to make safety a top priority. “As school nears its end and a busy summer season gets ready to kick off, it’s important to mention the fast moving rivers and streams in our area,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “The water is still very cold and can literally paralyze a person in a very short amount of time. We urge citizens to not challenge questionable water crossings and to stay a safe distance from fast moving waters. As the waters rise it can make the banks on the rivers and creeks unstable causing cave ins and erosion.” All are urged to go over water safety with children and keep a close watch near fast moving water.
