The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office announced that Sheriff Travis Tucker will be bringing back the Citizen’s Academy. Due to COVID, this program has been unavailable the last few years but it is now time to offer it again. The 8-week program begins June 15th with a class once a week. The Citizen’s Academy “targets people in our area who want to learn more about the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office. The program is offered free of charge, and is hands-on, interactive, behind-the-scenes program taught by experienced deputies and instructors, who share their unique perspective on law enforcement.” The program will cover topics including building clearing, child abuse investigations, crime scene investigations, introduction to the K9 unit, and SWAT operations and equipment, just to name a few. Applications for the program are open now and there is limited seating available. Visit the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office Facebook for the link to apply.
