Senator Winterton Urges Involvement In Redistricting Public Meeting Tomorrow

Area leaders are making a final push to get locals involved in the redistricting process currently underway that has the potential to really hurt representation of the Uintah Basin. Among them is Senator Ron Winterton who is strongly urging citizens of the Uintah Basin to attend the final redistricting public hearing for our area that is taking place tomorrow morning at the Uintah Conference Center. If you’re wondering why, Senator Winterton can explain. “There is an effort underway to reduce rural Utah’s senate and house seats substantially,” shares Winterton. “Many legislatures are arguing for more representation from the population centers along the Wasatch Front.” If they get their way the voice of rural Utah will be nearly or completely lost. Winterton emphasized that “this is an issue that could prove to be very harmful for rural Utah counties like Duchesne and Uintah.” Even if you are just hearing about this issue, come to the redistricting public hearing tomorrow at the Uintah Conference Center starting at 10:00am.
