The environmental process continues on the project proposed to extend Seep Ridge Road south to I-70 in Grand County. The NEPA process began in the fall to study the potential consequences of the proposed project to ensure that any decisions made are environmentally sound. Senator Kevin Van Tassell has committed to pursuing funding to finish the project’s Environmental Impact Study which he expects to be around $3 million more dollars. The project proposes to construct a corridor through the Book Cliffs but can only move forward once everything checks off in the environmental process. Senator Van Tassell says that the parties involved are making progress in nailing down the best alignment for the road extension for if and when construction can begin. Supporters of the project say the roadway will foster increased economic activity for the entire region through tourism, recreation, energy production, and the construction industry.
