A search warrant issued in Duchesne County on Sunday brought a second suspect in a fatal South Jordan shooting into custody. The South Valley SWAT team traveled over 100 miles to the property where the suspect, 25-year-old Zachary Prescott, was located and brought into custody. Just the day before, the other suspect, 38-year-old Kevin Scarbourough, had been arrested. The 34-year-old victim, Alexander Powell, had been shot in the early morning hours on Saturday and died from his injuries after being transported to a local hospital. According to the Probable Cause Statement, a witness heard Scarbourough instruct Prescott to shoot the victim. Prescott replied that he didn’t want to go to prison. Scarbourough again told Prescott to shoot the victim and that’s when “shots rang out”.
