A Salt Lake man was arrested and booked into Uintah County Jail on Monday for kidnapping following an incident that began in Salt Lake City and ended in Tridell. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, Central Dispatch began receiving calls early in the afternoon on Labor Day from a female that sounded in distress but the woman would hang up before information could be gathered. “Dispatchers continued trying to make contact with the female and through several short contacts was able to obtain bits and pieces of information from the woman,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “The woman didn’t know where she was but believed she was somewhere around Vernal.” Deputies began searching Uintah County for a possible location and as more information came in, deputies were led to a location in Tridell. While at the location, a BIA police officer came in contact with the woman and her kidnapper, 27-year-old Domingo Diego Jose of Salt Lake City.” Jose was immediately taken into custody,” shares the Sheriff’s Office, “and the woman, who was with a small child, were transported to the hospital for treatment.” Investigation revealed that Jose first assaulted the woman in Salt Lake City and then she and her small child were brought to a residence in Tridell. The woman had tried to get away but was unsuccessful. Jose was booked into the Uintah County Jail for aggravated kidnapping and child kidnapping. He remains in the Uintah County Jail on $300,000 dollars cash bail.
