Safe UT Smartphone APP a Tool for Safe Schools

by | Mar 27, 2018 | News | 0 comments

A tool available to schools in the state of Utah and used locally is the Safe UT smartphone app. Safe UT is linked to statewide services in real-time crisis intervention. Youth can text or send confidential tips right through the app on their smartphone and be connected with a crisis line at all times. Licensed clinicians respond to all chats, texts and calls, providing counseling, suicide prevention, and referral services. Uintah School District has utilized this tool for several years and consider it a valuable tool in the schools. “We launched the Safe UT app two years ago at the high school and middle schools,” shares Uintah School District Student Services Director Julie Wilde. “Eagle View Elementary launched it this year. It has been an amazing resource for the schools and counselors.” With the topic of safe schools at the forefront, Uintah School District has reminded parents that their Safe Schools Policy can be found on

and that anyone with questions is encouraged to talk to their child’s teacher or principal.
