A Roosevelt woman was arrested last month on child abandonment and drug charges after a call to dispatch expressed concern for her children. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers responded to the call and made contact with the children who said their mother had not come back as soon as she had told them she would. Police tried to locate the mother at her work and by calling her phone multiple times without success before transporting the children to the police department. The mother did respond to another phone call informing her that her children were at the Roosevelt Police Department. 34-year-old Karisa Dorcas traveled to the police station and handed them a bag of Methamphetamine and told them where more was located inside her vehicle. A prescription bottle issued to someone other than herself was also located. Dorcas was arrested and is charged with 3rd Degree Felony Child Abandonment, as well as Drug Possession and Paraphernalia charges.
