The birthday celebration for Jennie Merkley on Saturday at the Villa in Roosevelt was one to remember for a multitude of reasons. A special few people make it to their 100th birthday and at 100 years old, Jennie Merkley still wears a beautiful smile and is a joy to be around. It was also a birthday to remember because of a special piece of mail that arrived for her from Governor Gary Herbert. The letter certified that Jennie Merkley is now a member of the

Century Club of Utah

and she shall now be known as a Utah Centenarian. The letter included a special pin and commended Jennie for the wisdom, experience, and longevity she shares with the Utahns around her. The Villa thanked the governor’s deputy chief of staff Mike Mower and Michelle Gregory with the Utah Department of Human Services for their help in getting Jennie’s

certificate and letter.
