A condominium development in Roosevelt is leading the way to show what can be done to conserve water during this time of severe drought. The Mountain Green Condominium Homeowners Association shared on Thursday that they will be removing 18,000 square feet of grass and replacing it with a decorative rock treatment. “This water conservation project was approved by the 16 homeowners in the development and is being undertaken in response to severe drought conditions in the area,” shares the announcement. “Knowing that the average lawn requires about one inch of water per week, it is estimated that this project will save approximately 11,350 gallons of secondary water weekly.” This project is intended to demonstrate how owners of large turf areas can adapt their landscapes to conserve precious water resources and reduce their water bills, stated Mike Hyde, President of the Mountain Green Homeowners Association. The Mountain Green Condominium development is located at 300 West Lagoon Street in Roosevelt.
