Roosevelt City is urging community members to be cautious with fire season here. “We had a long, wet winter, which means that the weeds grew really well. But they’re drying out now and that’s a risk,” shares Fire Chief Lee Rockwood. “It’s hot. It’s dry. It’s perfect conditions for a fire.” Roosevelt City shared statistics that 100 fires have been reported in Utah since July 1st, bringing the total for this year to 256 fires, 90 percent of which were human-caused. They are also encouraging residents to participate in the SPARK CHANGE Wildfire Prevention pledge. Those that take the pledge are entered into a prize drawing. The link to the pledge can be found on the Roosevelt City Facebook page.
