Roosevelt City CDBG Project to Improve Culinary Water Line and Storm Drain

The latest Roosevelt City Council meeting included a public hearing and discussion over the 800 South culinary water line and storm water drain project that is utilizing CDBG funding. According to Assistant City Manager John Zilles, the project has been awarded approximately $250,000 dollars. The project will connect the water line and storm drain all the way to State Street, 500 East and across so the water can flow effectively. The Community Development Block Grant is one of the longest running programs of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The funds can be used to fund local community development projects related to affordable housing, anti-poverty programs and infrastructure development. The funds are competitive and can be used at the discretion of the the state and local governments based on community needs.
