Construction planned in Roosevelt for sidewalk, curb, and gutter is being delayed and will start instead next spring. “The 800 South project has multiple pieces, each funded by a different source,” shares Roosevelt City. “The water, sewer, and storm drain portions of the project are finished, and installing sidewalk, curb, and gutter is the next step. This portion of the project is being funded through the Utah Department of Transportation, and recently went to bid. The bids that came back were nearly 50 percent higher than the engineer’s estimate, likely due to the time of year. Approving one of the bids would have cost Roosevelt City approximately $140,000 dollars more than budgeted, and still would not have guaranteed completion of the roadway before winter sets in,” the City explains. With this new information, Roosevelt City Council voted to reject the bids and approach the project again next spring.
