A Rock Springs man is now behind bars after a standoff on Wednesday. 48-year-old Fredrick Charles Wilkening, Jr. was wanted for probation revocation on original charges of Stalking and violating a protective order when he was spotted by Sweetwater County Detectives on Wednesday afternoon. When stopped by a marked County vehicle, Wilkening refused to get out of his vehicle and the standoff ensued. It was not known if Wilkening was armed or not. Eventually Wilkening got out of the vehicle yelling at deputies to shoot him, shouting “kill me” and “pull the trigger.” He was shot with a less-lethal beanbag round from a special shotgun and after a scuffle, he was handcuffed and placed under arrest. He remains in custody at the Sweetwater County Detention Center.
