Rifle Police Provide Update In Incident Of Minor Who Shot Into A Crowd

Rifle Police Department has provided an update on an incident that occurred on the morning of July 20th. The original report from Rifle PD stated that upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male had been shot in an area where a group of people had gathered. The suspect had fled the scene and the victim was transported to the hospital. Garfield County All Hazards Response Team were called in for the search to locate the armed individual and area residents were instructed to stay inside their residences. At 1:55am on July 21st, a juvenile male was found off a County road and was taken into custody. Rifle PD and Colorado’s 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office provided a recent joint update stating that the juvenile male was taken into custody for allegedly shooting into a group of people and that two people were injured. He is charged with Assault in the 1st Degree with a Firearm and four counts of Attempted Assault in the 1st Degree with a Firearm/Deadly Weapon. The investigation is ongoing. The joint update also stated that the juvenile is scheduled for court in the Garfield County Juvenile Court on August 9th.
