Rifle Police Department is encouraging all to beware of ongoing scams in the region. “Several residents of Rifle have been contacted by unknown parties claiming to have kidnapped a family member and demanding money for release,” shares Rifle PD. “The caller may have a person act as the family member in an effort to force you to send currency or something of value. If you receive one of these calls, DO NOT send anything of value to anyone. Do not share personal information. The caller may already have personal information for your family member and this is common. The caller may know the names of pets, family members and friends.” If you are worried, call the family member that is allegedly in danger. You can also contact your local law enforcement agency.
