Rifle Police Department Warns of Latest Scams

by | Aug 30, 2017 | News | 0 comments

The Rifle Police Department issued a timely warning this week and it may pay for the entire region to listen up. Rifle Police are warning of a group that has been going door to door soliciting donations for the military. The group indicates that they are associated with Colorado Mountain College in Rifle but CMC has made it clear that no such group is associated with the school. Scammer groups often travel from town to town and reference local schools asking for donations for what they often call a scholarship contest. Contact local law enforcement if approached by a scammer. Rifle Police also warn folks to watch for telephone and email scams regarding Hurricane Harvey. Give only to established charities and do not trust links in emails, shares Rifle Police. Also, any phone calls asking for donations using a Green Dot card, prepaid credit card or gift card of any type is a scam.
