With Uintah County Commissioner Mike McKee’s resignation from office, the Uintah County Republican Party has an important job to do. Because Commissioner McKee is a registered Republican, the Party has the responsibility of selecting a replacement to finish out McKee’s term of office. The Uintah County Republican Party By Laws were last ratified in 2012 and state first and foremost that the Party shall: “Actively facilitate the election of qualified Republicans to Uintah County local government and legislative office…”  The County’s Republican Party Central Committee consists of four officers elected at Convention, four “members-at-large” of the Party also elected at Convention, and two members appointed by majority vote of the Committee. The By Laws outline Committee duties, including, to fill vacancies in elected offices at the County level. The By Laws state, “The Central Committee shall submit one name, and the County Liaison shall submit that name to the appropriate County official for appointment, in accordance with the law.” March 2nd will be Commissioner McKee’s last day as Uintah County Commissioner. On March 3rd the Uintah County Republican Party Central Committee can officially begin their pursuit of a suitable replacement for the Commission seat.
