A man arrested outside the Vernal Walmart this week has a history of shoplifting and was caught at it once again, this time resulting in a felony charge. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, an officer observed 39-year-old David Alexander Maclee enter Walmart. Believing that it was Maclee, who had an active statewide warrant for his arrest, the officer waited and when Maclee returned to his vehicle he was able to positively identify him. During a search incident to arrest, Maclee was found to have items which he stated he had taken from Walmart but not paid for, including batteries, a refrigerator filter, and staples. Video footage showed Maclee taking the items and then leaving the store without paying. It was also found that Maclee had trespassed by entering Walmart, having previously been informed he was no longer allowed inside the store having committed the offense of retail theft on the premises. David Alexander Maclee was booked on the statewide warrant and is charged with 3rd Degree Felony Burglary and Misdemeanor Retail Theft.
