A man with a prior DUI was arrested earlier this month in Fort Duchesne on DUI. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, an officer was driving when a vehicle allegedly rapidly approached from behind and began to pass the officer in the center turn lane before rapidly decelerating and pulling back into the travel lane behind the officer. The officer pulled to the shoulder to allow the vehicle to pass before activating the vehicle’s emergency equipment. The vehicle continued for an additional half mile, making multiple turns and driving erratically before pulling into the back parking lot of the Ute Plaza Supermarket and coming to a stop. The driver immediately exited the vehicle, displaying poor balance and stumbling. When approached, the driver refused to identify himself, stated he was “taking the 5th”, and indicated he would not cooperate. He was taken into custody and secured in the patrol vehicle. The man was identified as 23-year-old Alonso Emmanuel Nunez and it was found his license was revoked for alcohol offenses and he was subject to an alcohol restriction and interlock device requirement. A search of the vehicle revealed open and unopened containers of alcohol, multiple loaded firearms, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Nunez was booked into Uintah County Jail and is facing 4 counts of 3rd Degree Felony weapons charges, DUI, and 7 other misdemeanor charges.
