Repairs to Browns Park Swinging Bridge Delayed

by | Sep 6, 2017 | News | 0 comments

Who could forget the day in June of 2014 when a blue 10 ton tractor broke halfway through the Browns Park Swinging Bridge and sat suspended over the Green River? For over two years Colorado officials worked to secure funding to enable the bridge to be repaired and fully functional again and while funding came together for the project last spring, actual construction has been pushed back. Repairs were scheduled to begin this summer but bids on the project came in higher than expected. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service agreed to pay the additional $250,000 dollars on the project bringing the new project total to $1.75 million dollars. That total is made up largely from the state of Colorado with other contributions from the BLM, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, and the 7 County Infrastructure Coalition, among others. The Utah contributions are being made due to the importance of the bridge to Daggett County and in providing emergency services. Construction is now expected to begin next spring.
