From the Golden Gate Bridge to the nation’s capital, a special relay of the America flag across the United States is passing through the Uintah Basin this weekend and all are invited to join in some way, whether that be cheering the runners on or possibly taking a leg of the relay. In 2024, two passionate marathoners became friends and came up with an epic idea: a mass-participation flag relay bringing people across the country together to deliver a single American flag to the capitol, timed to finish during the fireworks on America’s 250th birthday. Thousands of veterans are being honored along the way and as of early Friday morning, the flag was passing through Nephi and the live flag tracker estimated that it will pass through the Uintah Basin on Saturday, hitting Duchesne around 3:00am, Roosevelt around 9:00am, and Vernal around 1:00pm. The time is fluctuating based on the live movement of the flag itself but all can check the Live Flag Tracker on relayforamerica.org for the latest estimate for your location. All are encouraged to cheer the flag on as it travels through your area and if you are runner interested in participating, visit relayforamerica.org/run to check out the possibility.
