Moffat County Sheriff’s deputies crossed state lines to assist in an active shooter incident in a town just over the Wyoming border above the far northwestern area of Colorado. On June 8th at 1:15 p.m., the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office received a request for assistance with an active shooter in the Town of Baggs, Wyoming. Colorado deputies and a trooper responded. While en route, responding personnel were advised that a Wyoming deputy had been shot and was receiving emergency medical treatment. The exchange of gunfire with the suspect near Milepost 39 on Wyoming Highway 789 was ongoing. Moffat County deputies arrived in the area and located the suspect vehicle off the roadway. In addition to the Northwest Regional SWAT Team, a robotic platform and drones were deployed to assess the situation and discovered that the male suspect was deceased inside the vehicle. The investigation remains active.
