Uintah County Emergency Management is helping spread the word that a Red Flag Warning has been issued. The announcement states that the Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11am to 8pm for gusty winds, low humidity, and dry fuels creating fire weather. The area affected includes Uintah County, Daggett County, and western Colorado. National Weather Service lists the affected area in Utah as Fire Weather Zone 486 Eastern Uinta Basin, Fire Weather Zone 487 Book Cliffs, and Fire Weather Zone 490 Colorado River Basin. All are urged to exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning and anything that could cause sparks as fires will catch and spread very quickly. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
