The Uintah County Library will do just about anything to get kids reading, including forgiveness of debt. Children and teens are invited to clean their slate and reduce or eliminate the fines on their account by earning Library Bucks. Just visit the Uintah County Library. Check in with a librarian. Find a comfy spot and read, read, read. Children 12 and under can earn one Library Buck for every 15 minutes of supervised reading time and teens ages 13 to 17 can earn one Library Buck for every 30 minutes. The Bucks can then be used to pay down late fines and other library fees. Children and teens can earn an unlimited amount of Library Bucks between February 21st and March 20th. “The two major goals are to increase reading by children and teens in Uintah County,” shares Library Director Sam Passey, “and to teach children and their parents to be responsible for things they check out from the Library.”
