Whether you’ve noticed the new names on their trucks or the change to the bill in your mail, most people realize that Questar Gas is now Dominion Energy. Announced to the public in early 2016, the all-cash transaction resulted in Dominion paying Questar shareholders a combined $4.4 billion dollars and assuming all of Questar’s outstanding debt. At the time of the announcement, Questar employed 1,700 people primarily in Utah and had about $4.2 billion dollars in assets including approximately 27,500 miles of gas distribution pipeline. With Questar combined with Dominion, the company will serve about 4.8 million electric and gas customer accounts in 7 states. “Questar is excited to be joining the Dominion family of companies and serve as the hub of its Western operations,” shares Questar CEO Ron Jibson at the time of the announcement. “Our similar cultures and commitment to customers, shareholders, communities and employees make this a win-win transaction.” It’s been over a year since the announcement was made and the official change in name and branding is finally taking place.
