Quail Hunting Expected to Draw Hunters to Basin

Pheasant and quail hunting is around the corner and the Division of Wildlife Resources is pointing hunters to eastern Utah to find success. Duchesne and Uintah County are listed among 9 Utah Counties recommended for pheasant hunting but are the top two of three counties listed for hunters seeking California quail. There are decent numbers of quail in Wasatch Front counties but most are within city limits where hunting is not allowed. As a result, the Division of Wildlife Resources is recommending hunters shift their focus to hunting in eastern Utah where plenty of opportunities reside. Youth will get a head start on the upland game hunt with youth only hunting from October 15th through the 17th. The general hunt begins on November 5th. For more information, visit
