Reports of a prowler in Duchesne County have many on edge. Based on the reports shared on social media the prowler is allegedly a man, sometimes dressed as the Cat in the Hat, targeting children by tapping on their windows during the late night and early morning hours and in more extreme examples is actually entering bedrooms through windows. While local law enforcement has made no report of apprehending any prowlers they have validated the concern as leads have come in. “Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to be aware of their surroundings and neighborhoods. Duchesne County Sheriff’s deputies have been dispatched to a few different calls regarding suspicious persons or a prowler knocking on windows in the middle of the night. Numerous calls from the Altamont, Roosevelt and Myton areas have been received; as we take these calls very seriously we ask the public to be safe and lock your doors at night. We want everyone to be vigilant but safe. While we encourage the community to be on the lookout in their neighborhoods, please be careful in confronting any persons as they may be armed. We encourage you to move to safety and call 911 or your local law enforcement agency.”
