As many Utahns are dealing with the home and property damage caused by excessive amounts of melting snow, Basin residents are continually being urged to prepare for the possibility. Uintah County Emergency Manager Tal Ehlers is spreading the word to get sandbags now. “Just like carrying insurance, defense of personal property against flooding is a homeowners responsibility,” says Ehlers. “Should runoff be excessive, county sandbags will be used to protect critical infrastructure.” Residents are urged to consult with their insurance agent to understand and evaluate their coverage. Local hardware, home improvement, farm, tractor and ranch supply businesses are on board and have extra supplies for residents to begin preparing. All Basin residents are urged to take advantage of the time to prepare now to avoid disaster later.
