Today is the last chance to cast a vote in the primary election. According to Uintah County Clerk Auditor Mike Wilkins, as ofMonday morning, 3,790 ballots had been cast in Uintah County by mail so far which is a great sign of voter turnout considering the 2014 primary totaled 4,319 votes. This is the first complete vote by mail election for Uintah County and Wilkins is hopeful the total voter turnout will exceed past primary elections. Mail in ballots will have to be physically hand delivered today if they didn’t make it in the mail postmarked by Monday. Ballots will also be on hand to cast votes until 8:00pm today at the Uintah County Building, 170 East Main. Vote by mail is not new for Duchesne County and by Monday afternoon about 30 percent of ballots from Duchesne County voters had been received by the clerk auditor office. “We haven’t received as many as we did in 2014,” shares Duchesne County Clerk Auditor Joann Evans. “Having the presidential race voted on during the caucuses has thrown everyone off a little bit so it’s an unusual primary for us because of the changes in the caucus.” Still, Duchesne County voter turnout is about average, says Evans. Those delivering ballots or voting today in Duchesne County will need to stop by 734 North Center Street in Duchesne before 8:00pm. Primary election results will hopefully be posted online by 8:30pm atwww.vote.utah.gov.
