The Bureau of Land Management announced on Friday plans to ignite slash piles in the Pine Springs project area near the intersection of Seep Ridge Road and Pine Spring Canyon Road starting Monday, November 17th, pending favorable conditions. “If weather or fuel conditions aren’t suitable that day, crews will look for workable windows later in the week,” shares the announcement. “Once initiated, the prescribed pile burns may take multiple days or weeks to complete and will be monitored throughout the process to ensure public safety. The Pine Springs project area in southern Uintah County covers about 180 acres…These burns will remove pinyon-juniper debris from earlier thinning and hazardous fuel reduction work.” Smoke may be visible in the area but it is expected that most of the smoke will lift and dissipate during the warmest parts of the day.
