UDOT is trying to spread the word far and wide: Construction in Uintah County that will start the end of August will cause major delays on Highway 40. According to project information officer Nathan Clark, preparation will start the last week of August and work is scheduled to begin
on August 30th.
“There’s a two lane bridge on Highway 40 by Fort Duchesne that will be cut down to a single lane,” explains Clark. “Anyone traveling will have a huge slow down while they work on that bridge removing and replacing asphalt and reinforcing the bridge.” Clark explains that traffic will take turns traveling through the one lane, switching off every ten minutes. The bottleneck effect could back up traffic for miles and miles and locals should consider utilizing alternate routes. The major delays are expected to last for up to the first two weeks in September.
