Possibility Of Localized Flash Flooding; Stay Aware

by | Jun 2, 2025 | News | 0 comments

All are urged to stay weather aware and tuned into the forecast today. Weather officials announced Monday morning that a surge of tropical moisture will move into eastern Utah and western Colorado today, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms. “The Weather Prediction Center has nearly the entire region in a Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall today,” shares the announcement. “Localized flash flooding will be a concern. However, there is still uncertainty regarding storm strength and coverage during the afternoon, as the amount of morning cloud cover could help or hinder afternoon storms. Be sure to stay tuned for forecast updates as the day goes on.” It’s important to stay away from areas generally at most risk of flash flooding and debris flows. Slot canyons and steep terrain are most susceptible to flooding. All are encouraged to consider alternate outdoor recreation plans rather than possibly being put in harms way.
