A planned power outage is taking place tomorrow night in a large portion of the Vernal area. On Tuesday, September 9th, Rocky Mountain Power has a planned power outage that will affect approximately 6,755 customers. The start time is listed as 11:30pm and the outage is expected to last until 5:30am early Wednesday morning. This 6 hour outage is occurring in order to maintain equipment. All citizens are urged to plan ahead for this outage. Uintah County Emergency Management shared the following: Medical equipment users should contact their home health provider to arrange backup oxygen or medical supplies. Ensure the equipment is ready for 6+ hours without power and always keep extra supplies on hand. If using a generator, isolate it from the utility system to prevent dangerous back-feeding. NEVER run generators indoors, place them outside in a well-ventilated area to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. If traffic lights are out, treat intersections as four-way stops. Drive carefully and stay alert.
