Ashley National Forest has a message for those who may have been concerned or curious about visible smoke. Planned slash pile burning is underway in the Dry Fork Canyon and Brownie Canyon areas. “The piles are located along Forest Service Road 031, west of the Dry Fork/Brownie Canyon junction,” shares the announcement. “These burns are part of the Red Cloud Loop Fuels Reduction Project, which aims to reduce wildfire risk. Smoke may be visible to forest visitors and residents in the Dry Fork area. Fire officials will monitor smoke and adjust operations as needed to minimize potential impacts.” Slow down and turn on your headlights if you encounter smoke while driving.
