Pickup Drifts Into Oncoming Traffic Causing Highway 40 Crash

A crash closed Highway 40 on Thursday afternoon around 2pm in front of the park by the Uintah County buildings. Vernal Police Chief Michael Gledhill shared with Evans Family Media that a vehicle traveling eastbound drifted across the lane of travel and struck a vehicle traveling westbound. Both drivers were transported to the hospital with injuries, however, the injuries were not life-threatening. The cause of the traffic accident is still under investigation. “The roadway was only closed for a short time,” shares Chief Gledhill, who emphasized that all involved were really fortunate that it wasn’t more serious. Gledhill also clarified that both vehicles were pickup trucks.
