Phase 9 of Duchesne County’s Junk Vehicle Removal Program has wrapped up and the prize winners have been announced. Planning and Zoning Director Mike Hyde presented to the Duchesne County Commission on the program last week, stating that the junk vehicle removal program began in 2004 to encourage citizens to dispose of unwanted vehicles on their properties. Anytime a junk vehicle was removed from private property, the county would put $10 dollars in a prize fund with the funding coming from the solid waste operations budget. Phase 9 ran from August 2019 to April 2022 and documented the removal of 127 vehicles for a total prize fund of $1,270 dollars. The winners from 1st to 5th place of the prize drawing were Tom Nokes, Becky Wolf, Christian Thompson, James Maxwell, and Jana Sweat.
