KNEU 1250The Uintah Recreation District will begin the hunt for a new golf pro at the Dinaland Golf Course this fall. Todd Meyer has served in that position very well since 2007 but has taken a new job opportunity as the Director of Instruction for the PGA at Desert Pines Golf Club in Las Vegas.
The Outlaw ATV Jamboree is being considered a great success. Over 100 vehicles were registered and over double that many participants attended the 3-day event over the weekend in Uintah County. According to Uintah County Travel and Tourism Director Lesha Coltharp, this was the first year of an event with a bright future.
The Duchesne County Fair is right around the corner and the Duchesne County Commission is doing their part to ensure the fairgrounds are up and ready to go. In July, Building and Grounds Director Shane Jenkins explained to the Commission that there is a 200 amp service at the fairgrounds and he presented a bid from Mike Frandsen in the amount of $6,905 dollars to upgrade the power.
Isn’t it about time you hit the beach to beat the summer heat? After an extremely successful season, Uintah County’s summer day trips are coming to an end on Wednesday, August 3rd. Day trippers need to meet at the museum at 9:00am prepared with sunscreen, beach towels and whatever you need for you and your kids to enjoy the sand, water and sun at the Steinaker Reservoir beach. There will be tunes courtesy of KLCY and cold drinks compliments of Coca Cola. A new option for hunting elk is available in Utah. The Division of Wildlife Resources is getting the word out: Privatelandsonly permits are intended to push elk off private property and back onto public land, thus making hunting on public land better in the future.
Momentum is picking up for this year’s UBIC event. Dozens of people are signing up for competitions and events every day, shares Duchesne County Chamber Director Irene Hansen. The UBIC official kickoff was last Friday with golf and softball tournaments and Saturday was the UBIC Queen pageant. Utah has awarded $3.4 million dollars in grants for workforce development statewide. “It is essential for Utah to build workforce development programs that align with the needs of employers,” says Workforce Director Jon Pierpont. “With these funds we can target specific industries and education programs that directly benefit our labor force and economy.”
