New opiate drugs are heightening concern among law enforcement and communities in the United States, most recently with teen fatalities linked to the drug Pink. Uintah County Sheriff Vance Norton and members of his team attended training this week focused on dealing with new opiate drugs and one drug in particular that is killing people throughout the United States.

Ashley Regional Medical Center Recognized by March of Dimes

March of Dimes has recognized Ashley Regional Medical Center for “its work to give babies a healthier start in life.” TheThursday announcement explains that the hospital earned the recognition after reducing the number of elective inductions and cesarean deliveries at the hospital performed before 39 weeks of pregnancy to less than one percent.

DC Pipeline Economic Study Underway

A study aimed at measuring the cost of trucking oil from the Basin to refineries is underway as the DC Express Pipeline is explored. $600,000 dollars in grant funding was approved this fall by the Community Impact Board to perform the study that will explore the broader costs than just the fuel it takes to run the trucks.

Main Jr. Charges Filed in 8th District Court

Charges have been filed in 8th District Court against James Hudson Main, Jr. A manhunt that began on Friday in Duchesne County and ended Sunday in Grand Junction found Main in custody in Grand Junction and law enforcement investigating crimes that took place over 2 days and 2 states.
