Anglers turned out for the pursuit to catch the ugliest fish in the west over the weekend at Flaming Gorge. 201 teams amounting to 653 fishermen participated in the 2017 Burbot Bash hauling in a total of 3,918 fish.

Tragedy struck on Highway 40 Sunday morning. A 2006 tan Impala was traveling eastbound on Highway 40 near the UDOT sheds at mile marker 43 while a 2014 Grey Dodge pickup was eastbound in the same area.

A two vehicle collision in Moffat County sent multiple people to the hospital on Saturday night. A 44-year-old woman from Grand Junction lost control of her car on Highway 13 south of Craig around 6:00pm.

A missing fisherman on Flaming Gorge is presumed drowned as crews continue their search for the man. The Daggett County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a suspicious vehicle on the boat ramp at Cedar Springs Marina at 8:30am on Friday, January 20th.
Utah Releases Plan to Address Intergenerational Poverty
The Intergenerational Welfare Reform Commission released a plan Thursday for addressing Utah’s intergenerational poverty. The plan makes recommendations for both rural and urban communities to address areas of well being in early childhood development, education, family economic stability and health.
Tribal Member Charged with August Murder
A member of the Ute Tribe has been charged in U.S. District Court for a murder that took place in Randlett on August 13th.
Increase in Visitation to Dinosaur National Monument
The numbers are in and 2016 saw an increase in visitation to Dinosaur National Monument. According to the Monument news release, December visitation showed a 13.8 percent increase compared to December 2015.
Engineering Study Presented on Ashley Valley Flood Control
Wednesday’s Water Summit at the Uintah Conference Center included a presentation on the conclusions of the Ashley Valley Flood Control engineering study. Aaron Averett of Sunrise Engineering reviewed the history of the flood control studies and the options for moving forward.
Chambers Considered Valuable Resource During Economic Pinch
Both Duchesne and Uintah County have active Chambers of Commerce thanks to the support of local businesses and municipalities. The main source of funds comes from donation agreements with the counties and cities, typically renewed in January each year.
