A missing fisherman on Flaming Gorge is presumed drowned as crews continue their search for the man. The Daggett County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a suspicious vehicle on the boat ramp at Cedar Springs Marina at 8:30am on Friday, January 20th. Deputies responded and found a truck with a boat trailer backed into the water and the truck running while the boat was loose from the trailer. The search revealed that no one was near or around the truck or boat and it appeared that the 59-year-old male occupant of the vehicle may have had problems unloading the boat and fell into the water. He was presumed drowned and recovery efforts began. The Sheriff’s Office was joined by their Search and Rescue, Uintah County Search and Rescue, Utah Highway Patrol, U.S. Forest Service, and the Division of Wildlife Resources. The Department of Public Safety, Wasatch County and Summit County joined later to assist with the underwater search effort using sonar equipped boats. Great Basin K9 Search and Rescue joined the search on Sunday as all crews continued their efforts. At last word, the search continues. The Sheriff’s Office will not release the victim’s identity until the search and investigation is complete.
