KNEU 1250Vernal City Finance Director Mike Davis made a presentation this month to the Vernal City Council on the current budget status and outlook. According to Davis, the general fund for Vernal City is approximately $9 million dollars and the utility fund is approximately $5 million dollars.

A winter ozone alert system for the Uintah Basin may be aimed at keeping the oil and gas industry informed but can also have a broader reach. Director of the USU Bingham Research Center Seth Lyman explains that the alert system was designed to inform the oil and gas industry if there is poor air quality in order to make adjustments, but that all community members are welcome to sign up.
The no-show jurors on the Flatlip/Rondeau mistrial in Summit County last week will be ordered to show cause for their absence in court. According to Summit County 3rd District Court Supervisor Debbie Foust, the court is issuing order to show cause to each of the 36 no-show jurors.

The Uintah County Teen Outreach Program and TriCounty Health Department started the Little Hats, Big Hearts hat drive this month to provide infant hats to hospitals and raise awareness for congenital heart defects
The Powerhouse Dance Studio packed the house performing The Nutcracker on December 18th and 19th. This year’s ballet starred Kaylee Russell as Clara, Cutler Rust as the Nutcracker Prince, Shilo Grayhawk as the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Harlee Woods as the Rat King.
