Operations are going as planned on the Pine Ridge Fire in Uintah County. According to Utah Fire Info, the fire has shifted down to a Type 4 organization with resources scaled back to two engines, two crews and one helicopter. The focus will continue to be the mop-up operation and hardening the perimeter fireline. The fire was announced at 50 percent containment on Monday and is expected to reach full containment by the end of the day Thursday. The Pine Ridge Fire was called in at 1:03pm Saturday afternoon on land 18 miles northwest of Vernal. Mapping that took place Sunday afternoon by a GIS specialist estimates the acreage burned is a total of 519 acres, primarily on BLM land. The community is invited to a meeting on Friday, June 1st at 6:00pm at the Remember the Maine pavilion for anyone with questions about the Pine Ridge Fire or wildfire prevention. A presentation will be made by the BLM, Forest Service, and State lands.
