A unique event coming up in Meeker is aimed at cultural celebration and preservation. What is being called Oldtimers’ 2017 is taking place on June 3rd and includes the “Capturing Our Culture” event where citizens can come in as families or groups to simply discuss life in the area in order to create oral histories on video. Cowboy Poetry Gathering is another part of the event being held the day before at the Meeker High School Auditorium on June 2nd at 6:30pm. The Meeker Cowboy Poetry Gathering originally had a run from 1999 to 2009 that drew audiences from Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska and Utah. “The talent for the show ranged from a spot for locals to the headliners being nationally recognized cowboy entertainers.” The show is back again as an obvious way to capture local culture. Finally is the Meeker Palooza Art & Music Festival being held June 3rd. Learn more about the events at
