Oil And Gas Lease Sale Generates Record Amounts

The Bureau of Land Management announced on Wednesday the results from this month’s oil and gas lease sale in Utah and it was a record setting year. The sale results summary lists the Vernal Field Office area as the location where 48 parcels were leased totaling 68,203 acres in Utah for $64,550,922 in total receipts during the 2025 4th quarter oil and gas lease sale. That is more than $10 million over the next highest sale on record for BLM Utah. “By lowering the federal onshore royalty rate from 16.67% to 12.5%, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act reduces the cost of doing business on public lands, making oil and gas development more economically attractive to industry,” shares the BLM announcement. “This is expected to spur additional leasing and drilling activity, which in turn supports increased domestic energy production and strengthens U.S. energy security.” To access the information on the lease sale on the BLM National NEPA Register, visit eplanning.blm.gov
